ON THE CONCEPT OF BRUTALITY, PART ONE

Brutality is the main component in all human behaviour. It comes from down below. It comes from the first and the basic foundation of man's existence. One day, when I have the time, like not today or any other day, I will present to you a short outline of my theory. It is the theory of brutality as the most basic human driving force. I may be wrong. It may be love. But I'm afraid love is only a playground for a beast running free, tearing us apart, poisoning everything in its tracks.

We live on an infinitely thin crust of earth and rock, cooled down to a level we can handle. Here we live, with the empty, ice-cold hell above us, and the glowing, boiling magma below. We should consider ourselves extremely lucky to be able to live here. But we don't. We do our best to stench this green paradise in blood. Our blood. Other people's blood. Everybody's blood. The reptile brain has been with us since the beginning of time, and it sits there, running the show, vouching for an existence based on primitive impulse. Brutality.
